NAI-Supporting Open Media in Afghanistan announced that, according to their research, 32 print media outlets were closed last year, and now only four are operating.
Zarif Karimi, the head of NAI, said: “According to the latest statistics of the NAI organization in 2021, there were 36 print publications, which were newspapers and weekly newspapers, of which only four print media remained, and they also have a very low publication”.
Karimi attributes the reasons for closing the print media to economic problems and the shift of some print media to publishing online.
