Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesman for the Taliban-led government, said the United States was blocking the group from being recognized.
In a virtual interview with reporters, Zabihullah Mujahid called the United States the biggest obstacle to identifying the Taliban.
“This country does not allow other countries to move in this direction, and it has not taken any steps in this regard,” Mujahid said.
Nearly a year after the Taliban took control of Kabul, no country recognized the group.
The fight against terrorism, respect for human rights, and the formation of an inclusive government are primary conditions for countries and international organizations to recognize the Taliban government.
The group, however, has repeatedly claimed that the group’s government has met all the conditions for recognition.
The embassies of several countries are currently active in Kabul, and some have also accepted Taliban diplomats. Still, it has been said that taking diplomats does not mean identifying the group.
