Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Taliban, has contested the recent United Nations report that recorded 519 cases of violence impacting 3,545 children ranging in age from several months to 17 years in Afghanistan.
In his statement, Mujahid criticized the accuracy of reports about Afghanistan published by certain organizations from outside the country.
Mujahid accused these institutions of propagating false narratives against the Afghan system and its people, asserting that their reports are more about spreading propaganda than aiding children. He claimed that the current situation for children in Afghanistan has improved compared to the past two decades, a period he described as marked by significant harm and fatalities among children.
This statement comes in the wake of the UN’s report, which acknowledges a decrease in conflict within Afghanistan but emphasizes that children continue to face severe vulnerabilities.
