In a recent statement, Amir Khan Motaghi, the Acting Foreign Minister of the Taliban, affirmed that the group’s relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran are currently at their peak.
This declaration was made during a meeting with staff members at the Afghan Embassy in Tehran. Motaghi highlighted the positive developments in bilateral relations following the visit of Abdul Ghani Baradar, Deputy Prime Minister of the Taliban, to Tehran.
While Motaghi did not provide specific details, he expressed optimism about the implementation of various agreements reached during Baradar’s visit.
The Acting Foreign Minister elaborated on the active diplomatic presence between the two nations, noting the operational status of the Iranian embassy and consulates in Kabul and other Afghan provinces. Similarly, the Afghan embassy in Tehran and consulates in Mashhad and Zahedan continue to function effectively. Motaghi also mentioned the ongoing expansion of economic ties with Tehran.
During his visit to Tehran for the Palestine Support Conference, Mr. Motaghi held discussions with Iranian Foreign Minister Amir Hossein Abdullahian and the representative of the President of Iran Hassan Kazemi Qomi.
