Joseph Borrell: Until the permanent ceasefire, the Sanctions will not be lifted from Taliban

Ariana News Agency: The EU foreign policy chief stressed peace process in Afghanistan is in a dark phase and stressed on the need for the Taliban to commit to the ceasefire.

According to Al-Jazeera, EU foreign policy chief Joseph Borrell stated that sanctions can not be lifted unless the Taliban commits to
the ceasefire in Afghanistan.

‏ “Our assistance to Afghanistan depends on respect for human rights, good governance and the fight against corruption,” said Borrell. Sanctions cannot be lifted unless we commit to a permanent ceasefire and a political process.

Josep Borrell later on in his speech, said it is probable that the European Union imposes more sanctions on Belarus during a meeting next month.
