The leader of Hezb-e-Islami Afghanistan has announced that he has not accepted an offer from the Afghan president to provide military assistance to fight the Taliban.
Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, the leader of Hezb-e-Islami Afghanistan, said he had not accepted the Afghan president’s offer of military assistance to fight the Taliban.
Hekmatyar said: “President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani offered us military assistance to fight the Taliban, but we refused.”
“We want peace, not war and violence,” he added. To solve the problem of Afghanistan, we proposed to Ghani to form an interim government and transfer power through elections.
Clashes between Afghan security forces and the Taliban continue in many provinces.
