Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, leader of the Hezb-e-Islami Afghanistan, has expressed concern about the current situation under Taliban rule, calling it a threat to the future of Afghanistan. He emphasized that daily attacks, increasing migration, and the Taliban’s inability to manage the country have created major challenges.
In a video released by Hezb-e-Islami’s media outlets, Hekmatyar stated that the country’s security situation is critical, with some individuals in a state of high alert, “finger on the trigger.” He added that attacks have increased across Afghanistan, forcing many people to flee the country.
The Hezb-e-Islami leader also criticized the Taliban for failing to bring back Afghan refugees, saying:
“Instead of repatriating millions of Afghan migrants over the past three years, we are witnessing a new wave of migration.”
He pointed to the expulsion of Afghans from Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, Arab, Western, and even American countries, stressing that these policies have not alleviated the migration crisis but rather intensified it.
Hekmatyar criticized the absence of a stable government in Afghanistan, saying that the country needs a lawful system that can ensure security, prosperity, and a promising future for its people. He stressed that this gap must be filled as soon as possible to protect Afghanistan from internal and external crises.
The Hezb-e-Islami leader warned of external threats and armed groups opposing the Taliban, stating that Afghanistan remains vulnerable to security gaps. He proposed the establishment of a “dignified council” to find solutions to these issues.
In conclusion, Hekmatyar urged Islamic and patriotic forces to work toward sustainable solutions and prevent Afghanistan from falling into internal and external conflicts. He emphasized that only through a stable and inclusive government can Afghanistan’s future be secured.
