Gen. Sir John McCool, who has previously served in Afghanistan, says Britain should be deeply ashamed of its fellow Afghans after leaving only its NATO allies in the country.
The retired British general criticized the Johnson administration for telling the British media that Britain was not fulfilling its obligations to its Afghan counterparts.
“I believe that hundreds of Afghans who were eligible to come to Britain through resettlement schemes have hidden from the Taliban for fear of being killed for what they did with the British government,” said Prime Minister Johnson.
Gen. McCool said he wanted to tell Secretary Johnson directly: “We have committed to take care of these people, you have committed, but you are not fulfilling your commitment. Establish a system that will fulfill your commitment.”
The British Ministry of Defense has previously stated that more than 9,000 Afghans who have worked with their country and their affiliates have been relocated to Britain.
