The European Union has signed an agreement with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to support Afghan refugees. The agreement includes €36 million in aid to provide essential services, create livelihood opportunities, and support internally displaced persons and Afghan refugees in neighboring countries.
The EU Delegation in Afghanistan stated that it has signed an agreement with the UNHCR regarding support for Afghan refugees.
According to a statement on its official website, the EU will assist internally displaced Afghans and Afghan refugees residing in Iran, Pakistan, and Central Asian countries.
The statement further mentions that under this agreement, the EU will provide €36 million to deliver assistance, livelihood opportunities, and other essential services to hundreds of thousands of displaced families, refugees, and returnees.
This comes as the expulsion of Afghan migrants from Pakistan and Iran has intensified recently.
