Taliban Government Celebrates Independence Amid International Scrutiny

Shir Ahmad Haqqani, the Taliban’s Minister of Information and Culture, emphasized the independence of the Taliban government and the rejection of foreign demands at a ceremony marking the group’s return to power.

Haqqani Stresses Government Independence

Shir Ahmad Haqqani, the Taliban’s Minister of Information and Culture, hailed the Taliban government as free and independent during a commemoration marking the fifth anniversary of the group’s return to power. He declared that the Afghan leadership does not accept commands from outside, nor will it do so in the future.

People’s Allegiance Reflects National Will

The Taliban minister asserted that the current system is shaped by Afghans, with the populace pledging allegiance to the Taliban leader independently. This allegiance symbolizes the will of the Afghan people, standing firm against any foreign influence.

Resistance Against Occupation

Haqqani referred to the Taliban’s two-decade-long struggle against foreign forces, stating, “We have sacrificed for our freedom and resisted occupation for 20 years.” He also underscored the Taliban’s commitment to continuing their resistance in the future, affirming that they will never stray from Islamic law.

Opposition from the International Community

Haqqani identified one reason for the international community’s refusal to accept the Taliban government as its unwillingness to comply with external demands. He emphasized the Taliban’s complete control over Afghanistan and their determination to govern with full capability.

Call for Recognition

The Minister of Information and Culture described maintaining security and governing the country as achievements of the current administration, arguing that these successes should pave the way for the international recognition of the Taliban government. He urged the global community to recognize the Taliban and stressed the importance of preserving Afghanistan’s independence and implementing Islamic law.
