Taliban Minister Declares Government Independence on Fifth Anniversary of Power Return

Shir Ahmad Haqqani, the Taliban’s Minister of Information and Culture, emphasized the independence of the Taliban government and the refusal to acquiesce to foreign demands during a ceremony marking the fifth anniversary of the group’s return to power.

Haqqani Affirms Government Independence

During the memorial event, Haqqani described the Taliban government as free and independent, asserting that the Afghan leadership will not accept any orders from outside the country, both now and in the future.

Public Support Reflecting National Will

Haqqani remarked that the current regime has been established by Afghans, noting that the people of the country pledge their allegiance independently to the Taliban leader. This pledge symbolizes the will of the Afghan people to stand firm against any form of foreign influence.

Resistance Against Occupation

Highlighting the Taliban’s two-decade-long struggle against foreign forces, Haqqani stated, “We have sacrificed for freedom and resisted occupation for 20 years.” He also reiterated the Taliban’s determination to continue resisting in the future, emphasizing that they will never deviate from Islamic law.

Global Community’s Opposition

Haqqani attributed the global community’s refusal to accept the Taliban government to its stance against external demands. He stressed the group’s complete control over Afghanistan and their commitment to governing with full authority.

Call for Recognition

The Taliban’s Minister of Information and Culture referred to the security and control achieved across the country as accomplishments of the current government, arguing that these successes should pave the way for the group to gain recognition from other nations. He urged the international community to recognize the Taliban government and highlighted the need to maintain Afghanistan’s independence while implementing Islamic law.
