Taliban Issues Strong Warning to Pakistan Amid Rising Tensions

Zabiullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Taliban, has issued a warning to Pakistan, stating that any military actions in Afghanistan would provoke a response. He also urged Saudi Arabia to mediate in resolving the tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan.

Taliban Warns Pakistan: Any Military Operations in Afghanistan are Unacceptable

Zabiullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Taliban, cautioned against any military actions by Pakistan within Afghan territory. He emphasized that if Pakistani forces invade or engage in military operations, the Taliban will resolutely defend their land.

Mujahid stated, “Pakistan should not conduct military operations in Afghanistan to ensure its own security.” He called on Saudi Arabia to play a mediating role in resolving conflicts between the Taliban and Pakistan and stressed the importance of Saudi involvement in reducing tensions.

Taliban’s Relationship with Saudi Arabia and Past Mediations

In an interview with Al Arabiya, Mujahid highlighted the Taliban government’s eagerness to strengthen ties with Saudi Arabia and welcomed the kingdom’s involvement in Afghanistan’s reconstruction and its efforts to establish peace and stability. Saudi Arabia has previously acted as a mediator between the Taliban and Pakistan. For instance, on February 17 of last year, the Taliban released three Pakistani soldiers captured during border clashes with the assistance of Saudi mediation.

Mutual Accusations and the Taliban’s Position

Mujahid also dismissed all accusations from Pakistan regarding the presence of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan within Afghanistan, asserting, “This group and other Baloch groups have long been active within Pakistan, and their issues should not be linked to Afghanistan.”

He further stated that the Taliban will never allow the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan to use Afghan territory for anti-Pakistani activities, reiterating that the Kabul government’s policy is to prevent its territory from being used to threaten any country. Pakistan has repeatedly accused the Taliban of harboring members of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, claiming these individuals use Afghan territory to plan attacks against Pakistan, while the Taliban have consistently denied these allegations.

Conversely, Taliban officials have accused Pakistan of supporting ISIS activities in Afghanistan, which has further heightened tensions between the two sides.
