Meeting Between Herat Governor and Kazakh Delegation

This topic was discussed in a session led by Noor Ahmad Islamjar, the governor of Herat, alongside a Kazakh delegation headed by Yerkin Tokomov, the country’s special representative for Afghanistan. Tokomov emphasized the importance of enhancing transit capacities and addressing customs barriers.

Kazakhstan Invites Afghanistan to Economic Summit

The special representative from Kazakhstan extended an invitation to Afghan officials to participate in an upcoming economic meeting scheduled to take place in Kazakhstan. During this meeting, the governor of Herat underscored the importance of security and the province’s significant historical position, deeming it suitable for attracting investments and fostering regional trade.

Past Agreements on Economic Collaboration

Earlier this year in June, representatives from both countries reached agreements concerning the export of Afghan agricultural products in exchange for imports of flour from Kazakhstan, as well as collaboration on the construction of the Torghundi-Herat railway line. The trade relations between the two sides are rapidly expanding.

Developing a Roadmap for Economic Cooperation

These developments occur amid ongoing efforts to establish a “roadmap for economic cooperation,” as Kabul and Astana aim to elevate their annual transaction volume to $3 billion.
