The Taliban Minister of Industry and Trade announced Afghanistan’s readiness to attract investments from Chinese and Uzbek companies during a meeting with officials from those countries.
Nuruddin Azizi, the Taliban’s Minister of Industry and Trade, highlighted Afghanistan’s openness to foreign investments in sectors like mining, agriculture, and energy at the Surkhandarya-China Business Conference. This event took place at the International Trade Center in Termez.
During the meeting, Azizi stressed the importance of bolstering economic ties with Uzbekistan and China, noting the pivotal role China plays as a critical economic partner for Afghanistan. He specifically pointed out the need to enhance exports to the Chinese market.
Azizi mentioned that the Taliban are prepared to create favorable conditions for foreign investment across various sectors, including mining, agriculture, processing industries, and economic infrastructure. He also advocated for the establishment of new transit corridors from Central Asia to China.
According to the Minister of Industry and Trade, agreements between the private sectors of Afghanistan and Uzbekistan are paving the way for new avenues of trade and transit, potentially strengthening economic interdependencies among regional countries.
At this conference, Taliban officials, along with their Uzbek and Chinese counterparts, explored various trade and investment opportunities. Azizi and his delegation also took the time to visit an exhibition showcasing Uzbek products.
