After months of silence, America is preparing to announce the release of a significant portion of frozen Afghan funds. The fixed assets of Afghanistan are to be transferred to the Bank for International Settlements in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Intercept, an American news outlet, has reported that the United States will monitor how Afghanistan’s frozen assets are paid for humanitarian aid after they are transferred to the bank, as mentioned above.
After the fall of Kabul to the Taliban, the United States confiscated seven billion dollars of Afghanistan’s foreign exchange reserves and ordered its European allies to seize another two billion stored in the union.
