Amnesty International criticizes Taliban arrest of two journalists

Ariana News Agency: Amnesty International has called the arrest of two Ariannews journalists by the Taliban arbitrary and unjustifiable and called for their release.

The organization tweeted that such growing attacks on media freedom pose a serious threat to freedom of expression.

Amnesty International has stressed that the Taliban must release Ariana News reporters unconditionally and immediately.

The Taliban continue to detain protesters, human rights defenders and journalists who spoke with some Western countries in Oslo last week about the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, the group said.

Amnesty International has said that “the international community must call on the Taliban to put an end to human rights abuses and hold them accountable.”
