The U.S. Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) has reported that, despite spending $9 billion in Afghanistan, the U.S. government has failed in its efforts to combat narcotics in the country.
In a statement on the platform X, SIGAR noted that on April 3, 2022, Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada issued a decree banning the production and consumption of drugs in Afghanistan.
Additionally, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry held the United States accountable for the poverty and suffering of the Afghan people, accusing Washington of involvement in the drug trade.
