The United Nations has declared that Afghanistan’s status has shifted to a permanent state of emergency due to the expulsion of Afghan refugees from Pakistan.
Leonard Zulu, the head of the Afghanistan department of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, highlighted the critical situation in Afghanistan. He emphasized that the massive and forced deportation of refugees from Pakistan has led to Afghanistan being in a perpetual state of emergency.
Zulu further noted that the surge of Afghan refugees returning to the country poses a new challenge for relief organizations. Addressing the deportation process, he mentioned that a minimum of 20,000 refugees are being repatriated from Pakistan to Afghanistan daily.
