The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) stated that, despite a reduction in armed conflict in Afghanistan since August 2021, the restrictions imposed by the Taliban on women have posed significant challenges for aid organizations.
According to OCHA, “The Taliban’s restrictive measures targeting women and girls limit their access to education, services, and employment, hinder certain humanitarian activities, and create significant obstacles that aid workers must continually overcome to carry out their work.”
OCHA also highlighted that Afghanistan is now considered one of the five most dangerous places in the world for aid workers since the Taliban’s return to power.
