The Deputy Head of Intelligence for the Taliban government issued a stern warning that if war is imposed, the Taliban will defend the Islamic land and Sharia law decisively, rendering current calculations erroneous and forcing warmongers to face severe consequences. This statement comes amidst rising regional tensions with countries such as Pakistan and the United States in recent months.

Deputy Head of Intelligence: Warmongers Will Face Severe Consequences

Taghmeer Jawad, the Deputy Head of Intelligence for the Taliban government and a key figure in security decision-making, clarified the group’s official stance regarding internal and external threats in significant remarks.

Warnings to Internal and External Factions

Taghmeer Jawad stressed that various internal and external factions are attempting to create problems for Afghanistan under different pretexts, but the Taliban’s position is clear: “We do not seek war; however, if war is imposed upon us, we will defend our current system vigorously.” He added in a cautionary tone: “We do not desire war, but should it be forced upon us, we will defend the Sharia system and the Islamic land in such a way that all current calculations will prove incorrect, and warmongers will face dire consequences.” He also noted that the Taliban government is committed to regional security and stability, grounded in Sharia and Afghanistan’s interests.

Balancing Religion and Development

In another part of his comments, the Taliban’s Deputy Head of Intelligence expressed his views on domestic development: He believes that enhancing religious studies will also strengthen Islamic faith, while simultaneously advancing modern sciences can ensure the welfare and development of the country.

Previous Stances on Threats

This statement comes in the context of similar warnings previously articulated by Taliban officials in response to regional and global stances. Tensions escalated after Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif labeled talks with Kabul as a last chance to resolve border crises, leaving military options open. Additionally, Zabihullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesman, reacted to Trump’s threat that bad things would happen if Kabul did not negotiate with Washington regarding Bagram Airbase, reminding that the U.S. should not forget that negative events will evoke negative reactions.
