On Tuesday, the Ministry of Public Health stated in a press release that Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali is leading a high-level delegation to New Delhi following an official invitation from the Indian government. This multi-day visit is aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in the health sector. The main focal points include the expansion of health relations, sharing medical experiences, utilizing India’s health capacities, and coordinating joint efforts in healthcare.
During this visit, the Taliban’s Health Minister is expected to meet with senior Indian government officials, particularly those responsible for public health and medical treatment. These discussions are reported to concentrate on technical cooperation, training healthcare personnel, and improving health services.
This trip marks the third visit by Taliban ministers to India in less than two months. Previously, Amir Khan Muttaqi, the foreign minister, and Nooruddin Azizi, the minister of industry and trade, also visited New Delhi on official invitations from the Indian government. This ongoing interaction is crucial as it may influence other aspects of bilateral relations, including potential investments, such as those outlined in Indian Investors Set to Transform Afghanistan’s Pharmaceutical and Mining Sectors.
In recent years, India has collaborated with Afghanistan in the health sector, including the construction of hospitals and equipping health centers. One notable project nearing completion is the eye hospital in Kabul. The recent visit by the Taliban’s health minister is expected to facilitate the treatment of Afghan patients in India and enhance the capacity of healthcare personnel within Afghanistan.
