Intelligence sources and security experts warn that the northeastern borders of Afghanistan have become a new hub for terrorist group activities more than ever before. This situation has exposed Central Asian countries and China to organized threats.
The Taliban have begun recruiting trained Uyghur fighters and members of the Ansarullah group within their border forces in the provinces of Badakhshan and Takhar; individuals who have recently returned from battles in Syria. The aim of this action is said to be exerting pressure on Central Asian countries and China.
Key Position Assignments: At least two sources within the Taliban’s intelligence service and this group’s Ministry of Defense have confirmed that border positions, particularly in the districts of Kof, Shaki, Nasi, Maymi, Khawan, Shighnan, Wakhan, and Ishkashim in Badakhshan province, have been handed over to the Uyghurs and the Ansarullah group. These areas have turned into not only control posts but also tactical hubs for these two groups.
Organized Attacks on Tajikistan: Sources emphasize that terrorist attacks carried out from Afghan territory toward Tajikistan are not isolated incidents, but part of an organized collaboration executed by the Ansarullah group in Tajikistan in cooperation with the Taliban’s border forces.
Advanced Weapons: Previous findings indicate that the Uyghur fighters returning from Syria are familiar with the most advanced weaponry and have operationally learned to utilize drone aircraft for tracking and strikes.
Analysts state that through these actions, the Taliban aim to send an indirect message to China and Tajikistan: If they refuse to cooperate, they have the capability to strike at the regional interests of these countries.
In another report, sources claimed that Chinese nationals in Afghanistan are at serious risk of assassination, stemming from a well-planned and coordinated operation. In this operation, Taliban intelligence, the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), and the Turkistan Islamic Party, under the support of Indian intelligence, play a role.
Order for Assassination from New Delhi: It has been alleged that the recent terrorist attack on Chinese nationals at the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border was carried out under the orders of Indian intelligence and with direct cooperation from the Taliban intelligence service, with all equipment provided by India to the terrorists.
Secret Meetings: According to reports, throughout the year 2025, Indian intelligence officials have traveled to Afghanistan multiple times and, in addition to Taliban officials, have met with representatives of several terrorist groups such as TTP, the Baloch Liberation Army, and several Al-Qaeda commanders.
Provision of Advanced Drones: Recently, Indian intelligence has provided several advanced drone aircraft to Taliban terrorists in Afghanistan, and some of these drones have been directly transferred to groups such as TTP, the Baloch Liberation Army, and the Turkistan Islamic Party.
Reports indicate that the recent attack on Chinese nationals near the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border was a completely planned operation jointly executed by TTP and the Turkistan Islamic Party, with direct participation from Taliban intelligence unit 561.
