Amrullah Saleh, the first deputy of the previous Afghan government, harshly condemned the recent remarks by the Qatari Foreign Minister regarding this country’s effective role in establishing peace in Afghanistan and strongly criticized Doha’s stance towards the Taliban.
Saleh, in response to the Qatari Foreign Minister, emphasized that it should be reminded to the Doha government that they have empowered a faction that is against the rest of the Afghan nation and continues to support it. He added:
Qatar has sided with the most oppressive and brutal faction in the Afghan conflict and has brought no peace.
The first deputy of the previous government pointed to the consequences of Qatar’s support for the Taliban, stating that the group that the Qatari government supported and still supports has deprived more than 20 million Afghan women and girls of education, health care, and any meaningful participation in public life. Saleh, in a serious questioning plan for Qatar, wrote:
Is this the version of Islamic Sharia that you have financed and legitimized? He rejected Qatar’s claims of an honorable mediating role, emphasizing that the Qatari government has no honor and instead, they should feel deep shame for the assistance they have provided to the Taliban.
