Issuance of Final Ruling After Months of Trial<\/h2>\n

According to a report by the Reuters news agency, a court in Bangladesh announced its verdict regarding Sheikh Hasina, the ousted Prime Minister of this country, condemning her for the severe repression of student protests as a crime against humanity. With this ruling, the multi-month trial of Ms. Hasina for ordering the suppression of student protesters came to an end.<\/p>\n

Previously, in October of last year, a special court in Bangladesh had issued arrest warrants for Sheikh Hasina and 45 of her close aides on the same charge, that is, committing a crime against humanity.<\/p>\n

Escape to India After 15 Years of Power<\/h2>\n

Sheikh Hasina, who held power in Bangladesh for 15 years, finally resigned on the 15th of Asad last year following widespread student protests against public job quotas. Amid increasing protests, she escaped to India using a helicopter.<\/p>\n
