The Taliban’s National Statistics and Information Administration has reported a significant increase of $45.1 million in the country’s exports for the month of Meezan this year, compared to the previous month of Sembala. According to the official statement, the total value of exports in the month of Meezan reached $274.9 million, while total imports decreased by $64.2 million, amounting to $1.168.4 billion.

Significant Export Growth in One Month

The National Statistics and Information Administration of the Taliban has issued a statement highlighting notable growth in the country’s export sector for the month of Meezan.

According to an analysis of the agency’s figures, the total value of Afghanistan’s exports in the month of Meezan reached $274.9 million. This marks an increase from $229.8 million recorded in the previous month of Sembala. The analysis indicates that exports in the month of Meezan experienced a $45.1 million rise compared to Sembala of this year.

Import Trends and Trade Balance

In contrast to the growth in exports, the statistics for imports indicate a decline during the month of Meezan. The total value of imports for the month stood at $1.168.4 billion.

The agency noted that the value of imports in Sembala was $1.232.7 billion; thus, a reduction of $64.2 million in the value of imports for Meezan compared to Sembala has been observed.

Despite the rise in exports, a comparison between total exports ($274.9 million) and total imports ($1.168.4 billion) shows that Afghanistan is still facing a trade deficit exceeding $1 billion.

Afghanistan’s Key Trade Partners

The figures released by the National Statistics and Information Administration reveal that in the month of Meezan, the highest exports from Afghanistan went to countries such as India, Pakistan, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates, while the majority of imports came from Iran, China, Pakistan, and the United Arab Emirates.
