He asserted that with the rise of the Taliban regime, the implementation of Islamic laws has been facilitated, allowing women to now benefit from legitimate freedoms under Sharia.

Highlighting the Position of Women in Islam

Sarhadi pointed out the esteemed position of women in the Quran and Prophetic traditions, affirming that the Taliban government is committed to upholding this status and ensuring their rightful entitlements.

Hijab and Education: Complementary Values for Muslim Women

In conclusion, the Bamyan governor emphasized that education and hijab are two essential and complementary values for Muslim women, stating that they should adhere to hijab while pursuing education and contributing to society.

These comments come amid the extensive restrictions placed on women in Afghanistan since the Taliban regained power in August 2021. The group has curtailed many fundamental rights for women, including access to secondary and higher education, employment in public and private sectors, participation in public spaces, and engagement in social activities.
