Although the exact number of imprisoned women in Afghanistan remains unknown, the head of Taliban prison affairs, under pressure from international organizations, has admitted that more than 1,800 women are currently in detention.<\/p>\n

Shocking Testimonies from Women in Taliban Prisons<\/h2>\n

Some released women or their families have reported widespread abuse of young women in Taliban prisons. According to them, younger detainees are forced into marriage with Taliban members and are told that their “religious duty in the Islamic Emirate is to engage in Jihad Nikah.”<\/p>\n

Additionally, women who resist are subjected to fabricated charges, psychological and physical torture, and even beatings. Reports suggest that psychological torture has led some women to commit suicide after their release.
