Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha has called upon Member States to intensify efforts to ensure the rights of all women and girls in science and technology.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Brahim Taha pointed to the announcement published by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and said: “The OIC’s 8th Ministerial Conference on Women held in December 2018 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso adopted the resolution promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Education for women and girls. The resolution “urged Member States to take legislative and executive measures to offer STEM programs for women and girls, with the view to bridge the gap between women’s education and the demands of the labor market.”<\/p>\n

It should be mentioned that after taking control of Afghanistan, the Taliban have banned girls from schools beyond the sixth grade and recently barred girls from attending universities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
