Ariana News Agency: The US State Department condemned the Taliban’s decision to reinstate the death penalty and amputation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

State Department spokesman Ned Price told a news conference that Washington strongly condemned a Taliban official who said the group was using amputations and executions as punishment in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n

He added that the United States stands firmly with the international community to hold accountable all those responsible.<\/p>\n

Price stressed that Washington has made recognition of the Taliban government conditional on respect for human rights.<\/p>\n

A State Department spokesman said the country was closely monitoring the situation and not only paying attention to the announcements being made, but also watching the Taliban act.<\/p>\n

In a recent interview with the Associated Press, Mullah Nooruddin Torabi, the head of the Taliban government’s prison administration, said that the death penalty and amputation were being carried out again in Afghanistan in accordance with Islamic law, but not in public.<\/p>\n

He called the world’s criticism of Taliban executions of the past in front of people in stadiums “interference” and warned against it.<\/p>\n

“We were all criticized for being punished in stadiums, but we never said anything about their rules and punishments,” Torabi said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
