Ariana News Agency: According to the Washington Post, now, after 20 years, the Taliban are restarting the Ministry of “Enjoining the Good and Forbidding the Evil” or the “Ministry of Ethics.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Following its rise to power in Afghanistan last month, the Taliban recently formed an interim government, announcing its ministers, all of whom were men and members of the Taliban militia.<\/p>\n

Mohammad Khalid is a person who has been selected to head the Ministry of Enjoining the Good and Forbidding the Evil.<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Women’s Affairs was an institution that operated in the former Afghan government, but was by no means listed by the Taliban.<\/p>\n

Protesters in Afghanistan’s major cities have called on the Taliban to give women seats in government and run the country with fewer repressive measures than ever before.<\/p>\n

In Kabul, some people worry that the return of the Ministry of Enjoining the Good and Forbidding the Evil means that the Taliban are not seeking change.<\/p>\n

A Taliban spokesman has not yet commented on the ministry’s return.A member of the Taliban, who did not want to be named, said: “Mohammad Khalid, the minister of enjoining what is good and forbidding what is evil, is a cleric who rules over religious laws.”<\/p>\n

The ministry will have its own special authorities for commanding the good and forbidding the evil, but it will not have a police force or soldiers. The ministry has not yet started its activities. Its duty is to enjoin what is good and forbid what is evil and to teach Islam.<\/p>\n

Another Taliban member, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the Taliban were not expected to use force to carry out their instructions as in the past.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
