Ariana News Agency: Pentagon officials say that Taliban will regain power after the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“After the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, the Taliban will finally be revived in the next two years and take power,” US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin was quoted as saying by the Associated Press.<\/p>\n

He further stressed that the re-emergence of the Taliban in Afghanistan could be against the interests and national security of the United States in this country.<\/p>\n

“If the divisions in the Afghan government escalate or if internal divisions escalate for any reason after the withdrawal of foreign troops, the Taliban’s rise to power may accelerate,” said Mark Milli, chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and a veteran of the Afghan war. But in a nutshell, Taliban forces need two years to rebuild their forces as before.<\/p>\n

Milli added: “After the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan, it will be very difficult for the United States to gather information about the activities of extremist groups, including the Taliban, in this country.”<\/p>\n

Pentagon officials also stressed that the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan would reduce the intelligence gathering over the activities of groups such as the Taliban. But to keep up the intelligence gathering the United States plans to take up security-surveillance measures through deploying surveillance aircraft which will be based in neighboring countries.<\/p>\n

“This means continuing the US goal of protecting Washington’s interests in the Middle East,” Austin said. This time, the United States intends to carry out this mission from bases which are distant from Afghanistan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
