In a recent trip to Badakhshan, Georgette Gagnon, the acting head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), underscored the importance of increasing investment in sustainable and alternative livelihood opportunities. During her visit, Gagnon met with local Taliban officials, tribal elders, and civil society representatives to discuss the living conditions of the people, focusing particularly on the challenges encountered by women.<\/p>\n
