In the Chooki district of Kunar province, two family members lost their lives due to a lack of access to healthcare facilities. Patients in this area are facing severe challenges and require urgent attention.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Deaths Due to Lack of Healthcare Access<\/h2>\n

In the Chooki district of Kunar<\/a> province, a 10-year-old boy and a 70-year-old man have died from a lack of healthcare services. This tragic incident occurred in the Diwa Gul valley after symptoms such as fever, headache, diarrhea, and vomiting emerged.<\/p>\n

Ezatullah, a local resident, reported that his nephew’s condition worsened while being transported to a clinic, ultimately leading to his death due to difficulties in accessing transportation and the challenging terrain. He added that just a week prior, his uncle had succumbed to a similar illness.<\/p>\n

Common Illnesses and Community Concerns<\/h2>\n

Ezatullah further stated that following the deaths, two of his other nephews developed similar symptoms and were transferred to a private clinic. Doctors there diagnosed their illnesses as cholera. Meanwhile, Qari Aziz-ur-Rahman, another resident of Chooki district, also contracted malaria.<\/p>\n

Concerns about other illnesses are prevalent among the residents. One local urged the government and charities to assess the healthcare situation, expressing, “The number of patients is rising, and people are extremely worried.”<\/p>\n

Response from the Ministry of Public Health<\/h2>\n

Sharafat Zaman, spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Health, did not respond to these claims. However, Dr. Hafizullah Ghrowal, the chief physician of the Chooki district hospital, stated that no confirmed cases of cholera have been reported in the district. He emphasized that patients who visited the clinic have, in some cases, suffered from illnesses like poisoning.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Taliban-led Ministry of Public Health recently announced a five-year national strategy aimed at strengthening Afghanistan’s healthcare system. In this context, Minister Nour Jalal Jalali highlighted the current needs of the people and stressed the importance of enhancing healthcare services.<\/p>\n
