This report reveals that Afghanistan ranks just above countries like South Sudan, Israel, Ukraine, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, and Russia. It notes a slight decrease of 0.5% in the country’s overall score in 2026, although improvements have been observed in certain indicators.<\/p>\n

Changes in Security and Political Indicators<\/h2>\n

The findings indicate improvements of 1.5% and 10% in safety and security and political instability, respectively. These changes are largely attributed to the consolidation of Taliban control over political and security institutions, as well as a decrease in organized opposition activities.<\/p>\n

Serious Warnings About the Future<\/h2>\n

Despite some progress, the report warns that the Taliban\u2019s monopolistic governance, political restrictions, and Afghanistan’s international isolation pose serious threats to the country\u2019s long-term stability.
